Kerela, The Birthplace of Ayurveda
After two days of the hustle bustle of Delhi and Agra we ventured to Southern India to Kerela – the birthplace of Ayurveda.
I want hoping to do some intense Ayurveda treatments. My motto in life is “ Bring It “ and I was ready for a deep cleanse. While that did not happen, I was still able to participate in an Ayurvedic consultation with a Doctor of Ayurveda and some external treatments such as spice massage, and Abhyanga which includes Indian scalp, head, neck and shoulder & belly massage with oils. I also had the oil drip on my forehead – Shirodhara. Shirodhara is supposed to have a profound impact on the nervous system. That means, the treatment directly and immediately calms, relaxes and has a cleansing effect on the mind and nerves.Although this treatment is supposed to calm the mind but I actually found to be annoying. We mostly ate an ayurvedic diet, bring on the Dahl !
A few sightseeing trips to the backwaters, the temples and Kerala’s beaches are stunning. I am looking forward to a return visit to a full on Ayur clinic to do a 14 day Panchakarma ( Detox and cleanse)
