YogaFit is a leader in Conscious Business and supports a variety of nonprofits and community service initiatives through fundraising, inviting speakers, requiring trainees to complete community service hours in underserved areas, and donating books, manuals, clothing, and other materials to nonprofits and yoga students in underserved communities. YogaFit’s progressive programs were featured in the April, 2012 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine (which has also featured Beth Shaw on the cover). So far, the YogaFit Network, under Shaw’s direction, has delivered over one million hours of community service work, teaching yoga and promoting peace.
The extensive line of YogaFit merchandise now includes yoga apparel, DVDs, CDs, MP3 downloads, books, and accessories. “What started initially as an inspirational thought in my head has steadily grown into a $5 million industry and I think that a lot of that is being at the right place at the right time—but recognizing that it is the right time, and doing something about that.” Soon after, YogaFit incorporated, and Shaw produced her first teacher training in Fargo, North Dakota, with 26 fitness instructors from four different YMCAs. YogaFit’s super popular Training Program was born—and it’s presently the biggest yoga school in the country. Specifically designed for presentation in health clubs, fitness facilities or other group exercise locations, the company and training programs have expanded over the years, and now feature internationally renowned programs for training fitness professionals in the YogaFit style. YogaFit has Teacher Trainings Level One, Two, Three, Four and Five in addition to class specialties such as YogaFit Seniors and Prenatal Yoga.
YogaFit sends monthly newsletters to their network of trainees and people interested in attending YogaFit events. Additional newsletters are sent monthly to the community of YogaFit Trainers, Hosts, and others. In total, 250,000 people receive regular email communications from YogaFit.
YogaFit has an active social media presence with 25,000 fans on their primary Facebook page and fans and connections on their other YogaFit pages including YogaFit Canada, YogaFit Conferences, YogaFit Trainers as well as Beth Shaw’s personal Facebook page, with a total reach of more than 50,000 fans, members, and friends. The social media team posts relevant content multiple times per day. BethShawYoga Tweets regularly to 5250 followers on Twitter.
After she decided she wanted to share her passion for yoga with the masses, Shaw produced her own local cable show “YogaFit” which won the South Bay Producers Guild Award for Programming Excellence in 1995 and went on to air in New York and other key markets. Because she needed close-fitting yoga clothes in vibrant colors for television, Beth had the YogaFit “proud warrior” logo put on sweatshirts and bodysuits. The clothing line was so popular that Yoga Journal Magazine featured the apparel in 1994 and today YogaFit produces everything from tshirts, pants, shorts, and wraps with the proud warrior logo.
The extensive line of YogaFit merchandise now includes yoga apparel, DVDs, CDs, MP3 downloads, books, and accessories. Currently, YogaFit has an archive of 30 DVDs and have produced 65 CDs (specific yoga music compilations as well as instructional CDs) with an active customer base. “What started initially as an inspirational thought in my head has steadily grown into a $5 million industry and I think that a lot of that is being at the right place at the right time—but recognizing that it is the right time, and doing something about that.”
YogaFit incorporated in 1997 and in that year Shaw produced her first teacher training in Fargo, North Dakota, with 26 fitness instructors from four different YMCAs. YogaFit’s popular Training Program was born—and it’s presently the biggest yoga school in the world. Specifically designed for presentation in health clubs, fitness facilities or other group exercise locations, the company and training programs have expanded over the years, and now feature internationally renowned programs for training fitness professionals in the YogaFit style. Testimonials/What students say about their experience at YogaFit
“I have my 200hr with YogaFit and have always wanted to do more studies in India. I trusted that YogaFit would have done the research and chosen a good place and a good teacher there. I had been to India before and know it can be challenging. On this trip, I felt like I was in a protected cocoon. The experience really surpassed my expectations, even though I liked to think I let go of expectations.” --Carla
“I teach about 150 yoga students every week. I want them to feel what I feel in my heart. I want them to see the blessings in life even when things seem dark. I reach out in love and understanding every single class. That is what YogaFit gave me and I give it to all my students with the hope that they in turn pass it on to others.” --Charlotte
I practice yoga every day, and since I started with the teacher training program, my life is so much more meaningful. I was a fitness instructor most of my life, but yoga really opened my heart. I live breathe yoga every day and the readings make so much sense to me. From my heart to yours, I am so grateful that I came across the YogaFit training.” –Camille
“I wanted to take a moment to thank you again for teaching the master classes this last weekend in Pittsburgh. You had such a huge impact on me when I took classes with you this January in San Diego.” –Kendra
“Any body is a yoga body.” –Beth Shaw
